Many mold novices don't know the difference between two-color molds and overmolding molds.
In mold injection production processing, hot injection molding is one of the more common forming methods. The entire injection molding process and the finished products may encounter various problems. One problem has a relatively small impact on product properties, but significantly affects the appearance, which is color difference. So what aspects generally affect the occurrence of color difference?

In injection molding production, hot injection molding is one of the more common forming methods. Various problems may occur throughout the injection molding process and in the finished products. One problem that has a relatively small impact on product properties but significantly affects appearance is color difference. So, what factors generally affect color difference?
1. Masterbatch is a key factor in causing color differences. The color quality of plastic products directly depends on the quality of the masterbatch base color. The heat resistance, dispersibility, and covering ability of the masterbatch are not only indicators for testing the quality of the masterbatch but are also directly related to color differences. Using higher-quality masterbatch not only helps reduce color differences but also improves the overall appearance of injection-molded products.
2. Temperature, pressure, and melt time during the injection molding process can also cause color difference problems. In addition, factors such as different batch materials and different equipment pressing will also have an impact.
3. Reducing the barrel temperature affects color difference. In production, we often encounter situations where a heating ring is damaged or ineffective, or the heating control unit cannot control prolonged burning, leading to a sharp change in barrel temperature and thus causing color difference.
4. Reducing the impact of adjustments to the injection molding process: When adjusting injection molding process parameters for reasons other than color difference, try not to change the injection temperature, cooling time, injection cycle, and masterbatch addition. Adjustments should also observe the impact of process parameter changes on color. If a color difference is found, adjustments should be made immediately.
5. If material factors have been eliminated before production, and a color difference is found during injection molding production, simply determine if it is a problem with the mixing of masterbatch and plastic resin. After confirmation, adjustments can be made by changing the injection temperature or cooling time. This is easier to achieve if the color trend is understood.
